World War I
World War I: Warfare, Battles, and Weapons
On the right are what was called the Allied powers and they fought against on the left what was called the central powers. This war lasted from 1914-1918.
This is a map of all the major battles during World War I.
WARFARE:
During this war their were three major types of warfare and some of them were new ideas and not used in previous wars. The three were Poison gas, Naval Warfare and Trench Warfare.
The first time poison gas was introduced was by the Germans. In the Second Battle of Ypres.

During World War I most of the battles were fought on land but the use of the seas was very vital. For the transport of resources and manpower to win battles.

One of the main types of warfare was Trench Warfare.
These trenches were not just were they fought during WWI it is where they lived and spent nearly all there time here.

WEAPONS:
During World War I there were many advances in weaponry and one of the big ones was the machine gun.

PICTURES
Two of the photos shown here don´t show weapons from WWI but WWII: the Stg44, the first assault rifle produced by Nazi Germany beginning 1943 and the UBoat Type VII also produced by Nazi Germany
ReplyDeleteAlso the map doesn´t show "all major battles" of WWI but rather the Western Front only, leaving out everything on the Eastern Front and at least 12 others (i.e. the Brusilov Offensive 1916 with about 2 Mil casualties
